Bled Marked International Zero Waste Day 💚
📆 On Friday, March 28, a presentation was held on a project aimed at effectively preventing and managing textile waste in Bled, accompanied by a clothing swap event. This initiative, led by Ecologists Without Borders and their partners, marked International Zero Waste Day. This year’s theme, established by the United Nations and observed on March 30, focused on zero waste in the fashion and textile industry.
👔 Among those who brought their pre-loved clothing to the event were the Mayor of Bled, Anton Mežan, the Mayor of Gorje, Peter Torkar, the Director of Infrastruktura Bled, Janez Resman, and the Director of the Bled Tourist Board, Blaž Veber. They highlighted the issue of fast fashion and emphasized the importance of such initiatives.
🎙️ Katja Sreš, President of Ecologists Without Borders, presented the project’s activities, which will expand in the coming years beyond Bled and Gorje to Brussels, Belgium, and Saku, Estonia.
🆕 This year, in addition to building consensus on extended producer responsibility for textiles, Bled will host several clothing swaps, repair workshops, educational events, and the traditional Reuse Festival.
